Following this morning’s severe weather, Vestavia Hills Elementary West will be closed to students on Monday, May 19, due to flooding and ongoing cleanup efforts at the school and on Merryvale Road. Professional cleaning and restoration crews have been on site for several hours and will continue working through the night. While they are making steady progress, we are not yet ready to make a decision about school on Tuesday. We will reassess conditions tomorrow and communicate with you about Tuesday’s schedule by tomorrow evening. Thank you for your continued patience and support as we work to restore the school as quickly and safely as possible.
